Professional approach
The program takes an integrated approach to the farm’s sensory, cognitive, relational, emotional and behavioral resources. It aims to support the recovery of physical, cognitive and emotional function and reduce depressive symptoms among older adults receiving integrated health, welfare and care services.
Program activities
Sensory stimulation
Participants experience a range of sensations through harvesting and food exploration, using the farm’s sensory resources.
Cognitive training
Cognitive training is integrated into harvesting and food exploration activities.
Hands-on farming
Participants experience farming activities firsthand, with a focus on harvesting.
Partner programs
In May 2025, through a program for older adults in partnership with OO Senior Welfare Center, we combined walking, harvesting, cooking and reminiscence using seasonal farm resources. Participants observed and harvested spring greens, then prepared and shared food, connecting sensory experiences, cognitive activities and interaction with one another.
In May 2026, we worked with Cheongju OO Senior Club to run a care farming program for older adults. Activities drew on the farm’s natural and agricultural resources and were designed around participants’ characteristics and the organization’s needs.
Research and evaluation
The program’s effects are evaluated using depression assessment (GDS), quality-of-life assessment, cognitive function assessment (MMSE-K), heart rate variability (HRV), motor function assessment and a satisfaction survey.
